July has been an amazing learning experience for myself as a new mom. I am capable of things I never thought possible & I have never known a greater more amazing love . . .
This month has been wonderful thanks to my amazing son who couldn't have been a better baby. He has made this the best experience by far, and I wouldn't trade motherhood for anything. I have learned so much about myself, throughout my pregnancy, during labour & delivery, and in these first 2 months of being a mom. I've learned is that my body know's what its doing, and that I should trust it fully. Before pregnancy and giving birth, I had so many doubts about my body and it's ability to create life. At first, I didn't think that I was able to get pregnant, and then when I did become pregnant, I didn't think my body would create a normal baby, and then when it was time to prepare to give birth, I didn't believe my body was made to endure it, but of course I was wrong. My body was created just as it was intended to be - to give life, endure pain, and make it through many difficult days with the least amount of sleep . . . I'll never doubt my body again, I am stronger than I ever thought or imagined.
I never thought I would put so much effort into someone else's well-being other than my own. Taylor is groomed, dressed, fed, & cleaned daily, even before I've had time to wash my own face. His needs come before mine . . . I have learned to be selfless, and I must say, it's not a bad quality to have.Another awesome ability I discovered is that I am able to do anything with one hand. And when that hand is also occupied, my feet are more coordinated than I initially thought. If I had known of my super ability to multitask beforehand, I would have gotten a lot more things done in shorter amounts time.
We are still breastfeeding, and it has gotten easier! I'm taking Fenugreek pills to increase my milk production and I'm taking multivitamins daily. I'm also pumping less and actually breastfeeding which seems to keep my supply up. Anyways, Taylor prefers to nurse, it's comforting and soothing to him, especially at bed time. Yup, that's right . . . he's on a scheduled bedtime, and sleep through the night waking up 2-3 times a night to feed for 15 minutes or less . . . I'm able to get a straight 10-12 hour sleep and it's amazing.
On July 9th, Taylor weighed 13 lbs 12 oz and was above the 97th percentile, and on July 24th he weighed 15 lbs 7 oz and I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Taylor has another appointment on the 6th of August for his 2 months shots and another weigh in. Learning his weight and seeing his progress makes me so happy, and reassures me that I'm doing a great job. Taylor had a gunky left eye since he was born and the nurses and doctors kept telling me to put warm compresses on it and to keep wiping . . . it never resolved, until a lovely old lady Doctor finally said "We should treat it" and prescribed him erythromycin which is an ointment for ocular infections, and it cleared up immediately! My baby no longer wakes up with a gunky eye and I no longer have to wipe it continuously throughout the day.

One day, as I was holding Taylor and talking to him and telling him that I loved him, he said it back! Quentin and I looked at each other thinking "Did we just hear that?" I thought it was just a fluke until he continued to say it, The next day I thought I would record it on my phone and he said it 4 more times. Is this normal for a 1 month old? I never heard of it. Written in my baby book, it says my first word was said at 4 months (Dada). It crazy to think that written in Taylors baby book his first word(s) were said at 1 month and 24 days old. Watch the video below . . .
Month 2 has gone by a lot slower than the first month. I love waking up and seeing my baby grow more and more each day. I'm looking forward to month 3 and more of Taylor's growth and developmental milestones.
