It's best not to forget the things in life to be thankful for. Never let the things you want, make you forget the things you have. This year, I've chosen to count 14 blessings and share them with you . . .
1. A healthy pregnancy & A healthy baby
I couldn't be more thankful to God for giving me such a beautiful gift. I'm thankful I left everything in his hands in the time of pregnancy and birth and I'm thankful to him for giving me the experience of being a mother to a healthy baby.
2. Graduating highschool
It was tough for me, I'll be honest. It took me a few years to finally get my last few credits for my highschool diploma because I just wasn't pushing myself, nor was there anyone there to push me. And when Taylor was in my tummy, that's when I finally realized "I have to do this for him." I'm thankful for the determination that such a little being created inside me. He lit a spark, and that flame continues to burn for him . . .
3. Having a warm place to live -
We might not have our own place, but everyday I'm thankful that we at least have a warm space to call home. As a young family just starting out, I think where we're at in life at this moment is perfectly normal, and I just pray for good things to come in 2015, particularly a home of our own.
4. The smile on Taylor's face
Quentin and I have struggled with the fact that we don't have everything we thought we would, but when we see the smile and happiness in our sons face, we're reminded that even though we may not have much, we have each other.
5.The willingness to improve
I know I'm not perfect. At times I let my stubbornness, pride and self-righteous behavior overcome the kind, understanding and affectionate side of me. When I realize this happening, I'm always willing to improve. Not only to help the relationships I have with people but to help with how I feel about my self as a person.
6. Quentin
I'm thankful for the love of my life. We're always willing to forgive and always willing to love. We're in this together, forever.
7. Family & Friends
How can I not count the people I love the most. The people who are always there for me. The people who give me warm fuzzy feelings, and the people who I would do anything to see smile. Family & Friends make life worth living . . .
8. The ability to forgive
“and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
The greatest gift my Dad gave me was his faith. Because no matter what, I know I always have my trust in the lord. A simple prayer said to me at bedtime as a child instilled a great deal of faith and understanding in me for the rest of my life. I hope to pass this along to my own children.
9. The help of others
I wouldn't have what I do if it weren't for the help and kindness of others. From strangers, to counselors, to grandparents, to the people who mean the most to me. Kindness goes a long way, and I'm so thankful for everyone who's helped me in some way this year, it really means a lot. Especially when I know I couldn't do it without you all.
10. A creative mind
I'm thankful for a creative mind. I'm never bored when I'm engaged in a new project, craft, and or a new blog post. It's a great outlet to be creative and I'm always distracted
11. Having strong willpower
I'm thankful that I know what I want in life and why. And that I'm able to resist temptation in order to improve my life and reach goals I've set for myself.
12. People who open up conversation
These people are real life-changers. They open up conversation to topics that no one really wants to talk about, like bullying, alcohol & drug abuse, physical and mental abuse, and discrimination. I really look up to these people, because they see change, where others avoid to look.
13. Music
Music is my therapy. I'm thankful I get to share my music with others, most importantly I get to share it with my son. One thing that Quentin, Taylor and I share is our connection to music. Kinda like August Rush, hey? Haha
14. Great memories
This year has given me a lot of great memories I will always hold dear to my heart. From feeling those kicks in my tummy, to holding my son in my arms, to receiving my diploma, and spending my time with family. I'm thankful for keeping a positive mind and heart. I'm thankful for everyone in my life who make it worth living.
